Just wanted to share a few thoughts on how fishing is on the lakes I guide on. Right now the spawn(fish laying eggs) is coming to a end. during the spawn the fish mainly focus on building nest, laying eggs and defending eggs from predators. The males are very territorial and will attack anything that come near their nests and the females are very cautious when they're carry a belly full of eggs, but they are catchable. Spring is full of cold fronts ,wind and rain. from my experience Crappie do not like all of these condition so this makes for a very unpredictable fishing trip. Once that is over they will go back to deeper water and commence to heavy feeding. For me the this is most consistent time of year(may-october) to catch loads of crappie.
With that being said the Fishing is INCREDIBLE right now! and will only get better !
If you would like to get out and load the cooler with crappie I would sure love to have you out, Heres a couple of pictures from my last couple of trips.
